Herndon Garden Tour. noon-4 p.m. at Herndon Community Center, 814 Ferndale Ave. Tour of five elegant and eclectic gardens in the Town of Herndon:

  • 900 McDaniel Court – palette of different leaf shapes, textures, and colors; pond with waterfall

  • 958 Tympani Court – Italianate, a garden modeled after southern Italian design

  • 654 Old Hunt Way – trees, bushes and flowers create overall design balance

  • 809 Monroe St. – contrast of different plants, colors, leaf shapes accentuated by various types of stones and plants

Dog Daze and Wagfest. 10 a.m.-1 p.m. The Water Mine Family Swimmin’ Hole at Lake Fairfax Park will open for dogs-only swimming. Dogs can swim in Rattlesnake River for a suggested donation of $10 per dog. The day will also include a canine resource fair.
