The Donaldson Run Civic Association will hot a Neighborhood Day event in conjunction with the annual Taylor Elementary Spring Fair on Saturday, May 11 from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. There will be contests and other activities for all ages including a tree planting ceremony at noon. Perfetta Cappello has been appointed dean of Marymount University's School of Health Professions, effective June 1. As dean, Dr. Capello will oversee the undergraduate and graduate programs in Nursing, Health Fitness Management, Health Promotion Management and Physical Therapy. Loretta A. Seigley has been named Marymount University vice president for academic affairs, effective July 1. As the university's chief academic officer, Seigley will oversee all undergraduate and graduate programs in Marymount's four schools, as well as Library and Learning Services. She has been a member of the faculty and administration of Gannon University in Erie, Pa., for the past 15 years.

Arlingtonians for a Clean Environment (ACE) is holding its annual photography contest for county students to display their works in the 2003 calendar. The theme this year is "Exploring and Protecting Arlington's Natural Resources." Winning photos will be published, and the grand prize winner will receive $50 in photography supplies. Students up to age 18 may submit photos no larger than 8 inches by 10 inches, in black-and-white or images that will reproduce well in black-and-white. Submissions should be labeled with the photographer's name and phone number attached. Deadline for submissions is May 15. Winners will be notified by July 31. * Wakefield High. Army-Navy Country Club, from 9 p.m.-1 a.m. on Friday, May 31. No after party.

* Yorktown High. "Beyond the Stars" at the Sheraton National, from 9 p.m.-1 a.m. on Friday, June 7. No after prom party.

* Washington-Lee High. Crystal City Hilton, from 8 p.m.-1 a.m. on Saturday, June 8.

Awards & Achievements:

Kenmore Middle School has named its Students of the Month for April: In the sixth grade, Matt Dempsey, Tasien Choudhury and Ronald Merino; in the seventh grade, David Kamensky, Kate Rose and Charmaine Rose; and in the eighth grade, Jose Aparicio, Keshonda Pyos and Maykol Velasquez.

Anna Vera Tucker has been named to the dean's list at the Savannah College of Art and Design in Savannah, Ga., for the winter quarter 2002. She is a photography major and is the daughter of Roy Tucker of Arlington.

Arlington resident Shelby Sours, a senior majoring in music theater, appeared as Pauline in Illinois Wesleyan University's recent production of "The Winter's Tale."

Lauren E. Wood, daughter of Mrs. and Mrs. Robert Wood of Arlington, was inducted into the Phi Eta Sigma National Honor Society. She is a student at Furman University in Greenville, S.C.
