Sept. 11 ceremony at the Freedom Memorial.
On Wednesday, Sept. 11, at 7 p.m., the Great Falls Freedom Memorial Committee will hold its annual 9/11 Ceremony at the site of the Freedom Memorial (behind the Great Falls Library at 9830 Georgetown Pike). This ceremony especially remembers the six citizens of the Great Falls community who died when Flight 77 crashed into the Pentagon on Sept. 11, 2001.
Woman Convicted of Embezzlement
Julissa Rauhut, 45, formerly of Springfield, was convicted Sept. 24 on five counts of wire fraud after embezzling over $186,000 from her employer from 2008 to 2011.

Herndon Honors Volunteers
Town holds the 28th Annual Mayor’s Volunteer Appreciation Night.
On April 15, 425 volunteers were honored for their service to the Town of Herndon from 38 different service organization and groups. Each of the honorees contributed 100 hours or more of volunteer service in the community last year. The 28th Annual Mayor’s Volunteer Appreciation Night was held at the Herndon Community Center.
