To the Editor: I thought you would be interested in an update about the ongoing saga of the Christmas tree lights on King Street. They were all turned off April 15 and the short-run effort to keep them on through this spring did not work. Now The trees have been trimmed on King Street. It was a long overdue procedure to maintain the tree canopy over the city. As far as we know now the budget has been created and the lights will not be on again until Thanksgiving this year.

For people in Brussels, Belgium Tuesday was like any other day. People were doing what they normally do, going to work,stopping by the coffee shops, filling gas in their cars etc. Two loud noises which turned out to be bombs, exploded at the Zaventem airport and one exploded at the metro station. These explosions claimed the lives of 30 innocent people and injuring over 200- people like you and me. Not soon after ISIS took credit for the horrific events. ISIS, as we all know, claims to be doing such things in the name of Islam.

To the Editor: On Saturday I attended the public hearing on approving the Special Use Permits (SUPs) of two used car dealers whose businesses are located on the 1300 block of King Street. The city in all its wisdom has decided that these two used car lots are non-conforming uses for King Street. They did however give them until October to find alternate spaces elsewhere in the city. This is easier said than done as finding affordable alternative and accessible sites elsewhere is almost impossible.
