Lutheran Mission Team Feeds the Hungry
Members of the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church missions team, Helping Hands, reached out to the Selma community once again, donating $7,000 of food to the local food pantry. Concordia students helped shop, deliver and unload the hundreds of pounds of canned food to Christian Outreach Alliance, an organization that gives hundreds of food bags to the hungry each month. Good Shepherd, based in Herndon has sent several mission teams to Concordia College over the years. Also on the mission trip was Matthew Dickert. The team also painted buildings on campus during their time in Selma.

Fairfax County’s Redevelopment and Housing Authority requested five more units for planned Murraygate Village, garden style apartments immediately west of the Mount Vernon Crossroads shopping center in the Hybla Valley area near Richmond Highway.

Developer Halle Cos. has decided to change its plans for Kingstowne Towne center. Rather than updating the retail center with 1.2 million square feet of office space, as was the objective approved in 2008, instead they aim to develop 886,000 square feet in four buildings for up to 800 new apartments and condos.
