Orange Hunt Elementary Math Night Transformed
Winter Olympics as theme of first STEM Night experience.
On March 20, Orange Hunt Elementary School revamped its former Math Night into a STEM Night that rocked the students and the community into an evening of learning and fun for the whole family. What began as a somewhat daunting endeavor, our new, small, STEM Planning Committee, which consisted of a half dozen science and math teachers and another half dozen of parent experts and scientists, planned an evening with over 20 hands-on experiments, activities and demonstrations aimed to educate students and community in the areas of Science, Technology, Math and Engineering.

6,750 Bags Of Thanks
The 2013 Combined Parent Council (CPC), many parents, Mount Vernon High School faculty members, and MVHS student volunteers sold over 6,750 bags of mulch on Saturday April 20, raising over $15,000 towards the 2013 MVHS All Night Graduation Party.
Clifton Haunted Trail
The terrors of the Clifton Haunted Trail will be unleashed Saturday, Oct. 27, from 7-10 p.m., in the Town of Clifton’s Eight-Acre Park. (Rain date, Oct. 28). Tickets are $20 for adults and $10, children; there are no advance sales. Sturdy shoes are recommended; snacks and beverages are available.

Girls on the Run
Twenty-six girls from Lees Corner Elementary School ran in the Girls on the Run of Northern Virginia 5K held on the George Mason University Campus on Sunday, May 20. The run was the capstone event of a 12-week after school program that aims to help girls between 3rd and 6th grade develop self-esteem and self-respect through a curriculum integrated with a running program. More than 3,600 girls from schools in northern Virginia, and their buddy runners participated in the 5K.
