The wheels of change grind slowly in Fairfax County. The move toward later, healthier school start times for teenage public school students is a prime example. Despite support from a wide range of health professionals, the School Board has struggled with the issue for some 20 years.
'Not Guilty’ Pleas in Fairfax Crimes

On Oct. 20, a Fairfax County grand jury indicted Jesse L. Matthew Jr. in connection with a 2005 attack on a 26-year-old City of Fairfax woman. Last week, he officially entered his pleas in Circuit Court, and now the case against him is moving forward in the judicial system.
Twilight Rock ‘n’ Run at South County
South County's Band hosts fundraising 5K race.
The inaugural Twilight Rock ‘n’ Run drew a nice-sized crowd to South County High School on Sept. 13, a cool Saturday night. The 5K race was sponsored by the South County Band Boosters to raise money for the band and for Turf SoCo, an initiative to raise money for new football field turf.
Great Falls Celebrates Spring
Community enjoys 30th Annual Spring Festival.
“When the weather is nice we always have a nice turnout,” said Wendy Adeler Hall, daughter of the Great Falls jeweler Jorge Adeler. On Sunday, April 13, families from the Great Falls community and Northern Virginia gathered at the Village Green for the annual Spring Festival. The Spring Festival and Egg Hunt was hosted by the Great Falls Optimist Club and Adeler Jewelers, a family business which has served northern Virginia for more than 20 years.
