Mourning Amid COVID-19 in Arlington
Arlington National Cemetery restricts Memorial Day observances.
Masks were worn. Distances were kept. At Arlington National Cemetery, only those with family passes were allowed to enter the hallowed grounds May 25 to observe Memorial Day and pay tribute to fallen veterans.

Frithjof Olsen Dies
Frithjof Olsen, a retired architect, died on March 25, 2012, three weeks before his 103rd birthday. He was born in 1909 in Fevik, Norway, the seventh of nine children, to Ingeborg and Ole Christian Olsen.
Volunteers To Place 5,000 Flags
On Saturday May 25, 2013 at 9:30 a.m. the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 609, American Legion Post 1775 along with other veterans and volunteers will place more than 5,000 American flags at the graves at Alexandria National Cemetery, 1450 Wilkes St., Alexandria. It is the oldest veterans cemetery in the U.S., established in 1862.

Registration is now open for the Spring 2014 Season. Offering Prep League for 13’s, American League for 14’s and 15’s, Senior League for 16-19’s, and Senators travel teams. Collecting ‘Bikes for the World’
Senthil Kannan, Boy Scout Troop 1983, completed his Eagle Scout Project. With the help of Yvette Hess and Keith Oberg from Bikes for the World and over 25 volunteers, a total of 77 bikes were collected.

Residents Asked To Donate Dresses for Prom
Washington-Lee High School will once again be holding its annual "Formals For Five" sale on April 25 and 26. To enable all girls to afford a dress for Prom, gently used formal and semi-formal dresses are being collected, as well as jewelry and handbags. The sale will be open to girls at all Arlington high schools. All proceeds will be donated to Arlington Public Schools. Tax receipts can be obtained for value of donation.
