Earth Day with Raptors
Earth Day with Raptors In commemoration of Earth Day, on April 20, at the Belle Haven parking lot area, the Friends of Dyke Marsh and the U.S. National Park Service co-sponsored an information and education session about raptors (birds of prey) that frequent the Mount Vernon parkway region. The live raptors available for up close viewing were a screech owl and a species of falcon. In addition to the live raptor presentations handouts for children and adults were available.

At the Instrument Petting Zoo
The door of T.C. Williams High School opened Sunday, May 20 for the Alexandria Symphony Orchestra’s annual Children’s Arts Festival, Cosmic Quest. The Blackbox Theatre was transformed into an instrument petting zoo. The cafeteria offered art stations, reading centers, yoga and hand bell demonstrations. Workhouse Theatre Kicks Off Inaugural Season
The Lorton Arts Foundation has announced the inaugural season of its own Workhouse Theatre. Based in the Workhouse Arts Center’s newly renovated building W-3, it is one of only three professional theater companies in Northern Virginia. Workhouse Theatre will launch its season with the play "ART" from Jan. 20-Feb 26, 2012.
