Pocket Change
After saving pocket change for 20 years, Northwest Federal Credit Union member George Shoemaker brought his coin collection - pennies, nickels, dimes and quarters totaling $7,124 - to the Herndon-based credit union for deposit. It was the largest, single deposit of coins ever counted at Northwest Federal, and it took more than two hours to complete.

Theatre IV’s production of “Johnny Appleseed” will be presented as part of the McLean Kids Performance Series at The Alden in McLean at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 20. Tickets are $15, $10 for McLean tax district residents. The theatre is located at 1234 Ingleside Avenue, inside the McLean Community Center.

Boomers Find Answer to Fitness at Senior Centers
Business is booming at Arlington’s six senior centers as more and more 55+ residents register with the Office of Senior Adult Programs and find a wide array of fitness programs available. Several community centers also offer strength training and weight rooms for 55+ only and sports such as pickleball, volleyball and women’s basketball. Ice skating, table tennis, tennis, golf, cycling and line dancing are also offered.
