Small business Saturday isn’t enough; don’t wait until then, and don’t stop after that.
An effort to support locally owned businesses has resulted in the recognition of Small Business Saturday, the Saturday after Thanksgiving. This year that is Nov. 30. Black Friday, the day after Thanksgiving, is known as a dedicated day of national zeal for shopping. Presumably the next day shoppers can focus on local shopping.
Celebrate Great Falls Foundation Invites Residents to Get Involved
The Celebrate Great Falls Foundation wants residents of all ages to volunteer, serve as members of the Steering Committee, or volunteer with graphic design, website updates, fundraising or other areas of expertise or interest. “We are always happy to hear from people who are willing to roll up their sleeves and make something happen in their community,” said President Candace Campbell. “The more new faces, the better. Even if you just want to submit ideas for ways we could do things better, we’d love to hear from you.”

It has happened only too often that a property is on the verge of demolition when the question is asked: Is this property historically significant? This question was asked when the Toll House was about to be demolished on Georgetown Road, as well as just before Thelma’s Store was demolished on Colvin Run Road, and now the question is being asked about the "purple house" on Walker Road. Many Great Falls residents have asked us this question about their own homes.
