Town Offices to Observe Martin Luther King. Jr. Day Town of Vienna offices will be closed on Monday, Jan. 20, in observance of the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday. The Vienna Community Center will be open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.; no classes, drop-in programs or activities will be held. Refuse collection will be collected as normal on Monday, Jan. 20. Public safety services will not be impacted.
Centreville Snapshot: 20 Years
Virginia Bagel, at 5621 Stone Road, Centreville, is celebrating 20 years of business. Customers commemorated the store’s anniversary by presenting owners Aziz and Karim Afzal (at right) with a photograph of the restaurant that was signed by many of the patrons. Virginia Bagel has participated in the Centreville community not just as a restaurant, but also by supporting Westfield High School.

Walk to fight breast cancer raises $90,000.
Still recovering from a double mastectomy in 1995, Lawson founded the city's annual Walk to Fight Breast Cancer, which celebrated its 17th anniversary Oct. 20 and raised more than $90,000 to fund mammograms and other diagnostic screenings for Alexandria women who are not adequately insured to obtain medical care.

Vienna's Gray Goss, 11, wins state free throw competition.
On Feb. 16, Gray Goss made 20 of 25 shots to be named 2013 Free Throw Champion in Virginia's 11-year-old boys division in the annual state-wide competition organized by the Knights of Columbus.
