From Montgomery County Council: ‘Stakeholder’ Engagement for Solar in the Agricultural Reserve
Montgomery County Council released a plan for additional stakeholder engagement on a zoning proposal, ZTA 20-01, Solar Collection System – AR Zone Standards, that removes the prohibition on community solar on 1,800 of the more than 90,000 acres of land in the Agricultural Reserve.
Great Falls Studios to Host Spring Art Festival, April 20-21
Twenty Great Falls Studios member artists—painters in oil, acrylic, watercolor and mixed media, potters, photographers, jewelers, a wood carver, stone cutter, layered paper artist and weaver—are participating in the Great Falls Studios Spring Art Festival, Saturday, April 20 and Sunday, April 21, 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. both days, at the Village Green Day School, 790 Walker Road, Great Falls. Everyone is welcome and the event is free.
22 Years in Prison for Child’s Death
A Fair Lakes woman has been sentenced to more than 22 years in prison for murdering an 11-month-old boy in Vienna, nearly three years ago. She is Carol Nadine Lutsky, 22, of Summit Manor Court. The tragedy occurred Oct. 5, 2011. Town of Vienna police officers were called to the 1100 block of Lakewood Drive S.W. regarding a baby who was reported to be unresponsive. But before they arrived, the caretaker, Lutsky, then 20, transported the infant to his biological mother who was in Reston at the time. The baby was then rushed to Reston Hospital, from where – because of his critical and deteriorating condition – he was Medevaced to Children’s National Medical Center in Washington, D.C. The boy, Nehemiah Williams, died the next day, on Oct. 6.
Italian Designer Takes Trunk Show to Benny’s Bar & Grill
Italian Designer Franco Fonati, owner of David 2 Leather Factory, based in Florence, Italy, opted out of holding his annual Trunk & Fashion show at the Willard Hotel in Washington, D.C this year. Instead, Fonati wanted to have the Trunk & Fashion show in Potomac, 20 miles outside of D.C. for the annual event.

Young at Art will celebrate its 30th anniversary this October at the Durant Arts Center in Alexandria. Senior Services of Alexandria (SSA) and the Goodwin House Foundation are co-sponsoring this event, which showcases the talented works of senior artists in the Washington Metropolitan Area.
