Flour sprayed through the air as Chef Henry Jenrri sprinkled the metal ravioli mold before spreading the sheet of pasta over the top. He filled each indentation with spinach filling, folded the large sheet of pasta over the top and pressed the rolling pin back and forth to separate the raviolis.

"We know a lot of customers every day. We have a big smile ready and already know what they want. So we get their order going before they even get to the counter. Good morning Hosea," Suyapa Flores says as Hosea walks over to the order counter beside the window filled with small pecan pies, morning glory muffins and elephant ears. She explains Hosea always comes in around 11 a.m. and orders an apple scone or a whole-wheat bagel and an espresso.

Over 1,000 look-alike white bottles line the shelves, cram the nooks and crannies and sit in the refrigerator at Neighborhood Pharmacy on Mt. Vernon Street in Del Ray. Stacey Swartz, pharmacist and co-owner, has operated the independent pharmacy for eight years since she bought the space from Show of Hands. "Monday is the busiest day of the week," she says, "with all of the things piled up from the weekend."
