City-wide Food Drive in July
Volunteer Alexandria is hosting a City-wide food drive during the month of July. Sixteen collection boxes are located through the City from Beatley Library to Fairlington Presbyterian Church to City Hall. All of the food collected will be donated to ALIVE!’s food program.

The Arlington County Board on Feb. 23 pulled draft revisions of Chapter 52 child care regulations from the public comment website after voluminous comments, "some quite pointed," had been received criticizing a number of the draft provisions.

Arlington: Changes Proposed for ART Local Bus Routes

Arlington has developed draft recommendations to improve bus service in the county. The 10-year transit development plan for ART and Metrobus routes contains proposals for 36 routes to enhance or restructure their services. One of these proposals would be a headway-based route that would connect Skyline, Pentagon City and Crystal City.

It is 11:10 a.m. and the emergency room is full with light blue curtains drawn across the patient rooms lining the long hallway.

The house tone went off. Durant Cephers quickly zipped off his shoes and pulled on his knee high steel-toed RBI retardant boots waiting by the fire truck. Then in a few seconds came his nomex hood, inner and outer layer protectant pants and jacket. He jumped into the right rear bucket seat. The firefighters were headed to a fire alarm on the third floor of new construction. It had taken about a minute from the time the alarm sounded until the fire truck pulled out into the street. Durant is assigned to the East Battalion, Engine 204 on Prince Street in Old Town, Alexandria.
