Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive set for May 12.
The 20th annual Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive will take place Saturday, May 12, when postal workers in Alexandria will pick up donations of food items during the regular mail delivery schedule.

On April 9, ACT for Alexandria is hosting Spring2ACTion, a 24-hour online giving competition to raise money for local nonprofits. In its fourth year, Spring2ACTion, the only citywide giving day in the region, hopes to raise $1,000,000 in 24 hours for 117 participating nonprofits.

Armstrong to be honored as Business Leader of the Year.
He is a native Dubliner but for decades, chef Cathal Armstrong has made Alexandria his home, opening his signature Restaurant Eve in 2004 and creating The Eat Good Food Group with his wife Meschelle. On Nov. 13, Armstrong will be honored as the 2012 Alexandria Chamber of Commerce Business Leader of the Year at a reception to be held at Rachel M. Schlesinger Concert Hall and Art Center.
