Ben Sisson is county’s Volunteer Rookie Firefighter of the Year.
Ben Sisson is just 20, but he’s just been honored as Fairfax County’s 2012 Volunteer Rookie Firefighter of the Year. He received the recognition and a plaque last Tuesday, Feb. 12, along with other volunteer firefighters, during a ceremony before the Board of Supervisors.
And They’re off to Washington, D.C.
Two local groups will perform at Obama’s inaugural balls.
While most people will have to watch President Barack Obama’s inauguration celebration on TV, Army Sergeant Major (retired) Keith Jarman of Centreville will be there in person.

Arrington Properties LLC owns the site at 120 Church St. N.W. in Vienna and it has plans to redevelop with a building containing both residential and commercial uses. Details were presented during the Oct. 20 meeting of the Vienna Town Council.

City of Fairfax establishes Technology Zone
The City Council has now established a citywide Technology Zone. Board Co-Chair Fred Cornett said, “Most cities of our size in Northern Virginia have Technology Zones – there are 40 total in the commonwealth. So to level the playing field, it would be beneficial to us to have a Technology Zone Ordinance to at least have what everybody else has in their tool kit.”

Bicycle Master Plan Meeting March 6
Area residents can help set the course to make Fairfax County a bicycle-friendly community by attending a public meeting on the countywide Bicycle Transportation Master Plan. It’s slated for Tuesday, March 6, from 6:30-9 p.m., at the Sully District Governmental Center, 4900 Stonecroft Blvd. in Chantilly. People may drop in anytime, and there’ll be a presentation at 7:30 p.m.
