Roundups: Crime Solvers Seeks Vandals

Fairfax County Crime Solvers is asking the public to help identify the people responsible for vandalizing vehicles in the Sully Police District. Between Sunday, Feb. 2 and Tuesday, Feb.18, at least 100 parked vehicles were struck by BB-type projectiles. Police say the suspects are apparently driving through neighborhoods shooting the BBs at parked cars, breaking the windows and causing damage. Many of the vehicles were parked on or near Old Centreville Road, Skipton Court, Federation Drive, Singleton’s Way and Compton Lane.

Vienna Man Going to Federal Prison

Given nearly seven years for McLean teen’s death.

Kyle Alifom, 20, of Vienna was sentenced last Friday to nearly seven years in federal prison in connection with the death of a 16-year-old McLean girl. The victim was Emylee Lonczak, a McLean High student whose body he hid after she overdosed on heroin. Charged with tampering with evidence, Alifom was convicted of that offense Feb. 10 in U.S. District Court in Alexandria. A statement of facts filed with his plea made it clear that – not only did he try to prevent anyone from finding Lonczak – he also did nothing to obtain medical help for her while she was still alive.

The City Council has now established a citywide Technology Zone. Board Co-Chair Fred Cornett said, “Most cities of our size in Northern Virginia have Technology Zones – there are 40 total in the commonwealth. So to level the playing field, it would be beneficial to us to have a Technology Zone Ordinance to at least have what everybody else has in their tool kit.”

Clifton Caboose 5K Raises $10,000

The Town of Clifton’s 15th annual Clifton Caboose Twilight Run raised an estimated $10,000. It was held Saturday, May 12, and 581 people participated — 474 in the 5K and 107 in the 1-mile fun run/walk. Said Race Chairman Gary Anderson: “We had a great race this year with a strong turnout.”
