Steeplechase Race Marks 60th Year
Event will benefit Yellow Ribbon Fund.
On May 20, the horses will be ready and waiting for the flag to drop, racing fans will be lining the track, tailgating and enjoying catered feasts, and the rails will be filled with young and old — waiting to hear the sounds of hooves and see the brilliant jerseys flash by in the 60th Potomac Hunt Steeplechase Race.

Candle Causes House Fire
A house fire early Sunday morning in the Fairfax Center area displaced three people and caused an estimated $250,000 damage. Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department units responded to a single-family townhouse at 1181 Laurel Lake Square, on Oct. 20, around 3:20 a.m.

Virginia Bagel, at 5621 Stone Road, Centreville, is celebrating 20 years of business. Customers commemorated the store’s anniversary by presenting owners Aziz and Karim Afzal (at right) with a photograph of the restaurant that was signed by many of the patrons.
