Virginia Bergman-Peters, 100, of Falls Church, holds a career portrait taken during World War II, when she served as an adjutant lieutenant junior grade for the U.S. Navy. She worked as support staff for naval training from 1942 to 1946. Peters ate lunch Sunday at the MISSION BBQ restaurant in Chantilly, where veterans were celebrated with patriotic appreciation, a barbecue meal and cake for dessert.
