A main theme emerging from the task force is the potential to save money through innovative alternatives to proposed capital projects. One initial idea is to consider building school “swing space” on the recreation field behind George Mason Elementary School, over neighborhood objectives, to avoid renovating the Nannie J. Lee Memorial Recreation Center for $42 million.
