Nina is a hard-working dog, never off-duty, even in the cold of a fresh snow. She has the very important household task of watching the yard for suspicious intruders, usually in the form of squirrels and rabbits. She loves this job, and practices and trains for it continuously — even indoors, with her many squeaky toys. She can't wait for it to warm up so she can sit outside all day and keep watch over heryard. We moved to this area less than a year ago from a small apartment, and Nina is in love. We only adopted her about a year and a half ago, and we think she is probably happier than she's ever been — and the feeling ismutual. It's a dog's life here in Mount Vernon.— Meghan Biery
