Celebrating Fiber Arts
he James Renwick Alliance, the membership arm of the Smithsonian American Art Museum's Renwick Gallery in Washington, D.C., joins the Rosslyn BID in hosting "Stitching an Urban Pathway." The event is a celebration of the BID's first two temporary public art projects — the Artisphere Yarn Bomb and All Aflutter, Rachel Hayes' fiber art installations on four Rosslyn skywalks. It will take place at Artisphere, and is free and open to the public. Highlights of the day are:

10:30 a.m. Panel discussion on fiber artwork being used in the public realm to transform urban environments. Participants include the BID’s Urban Design Director Lucia deCordré, the BID's Public Art Coordinator Kim Ward, Artist Rachel Hayes and Artisphere Yarn Bomb Curator Jennifer Lindsay.

12:30 p.m. Lunch on your own. Festive options planned.

1:30 p.m. Walking tour of All Aflutter and the Artisphere Yarn Bomb.

3:00 p.m. Artists' reception and celebration at Artisphere.
