Bernie Kleinschmidt, 86, of Annandale competes in the discus during the first day of the 2008 Northern Virginia Senior Olympics held at the Thomas Jefferson Community Center in Arlington on Sept. 20. The Senior Olympics will hold events around the region until Oct. 2. Kleinschmidt set a senior record with a throw of 27-feet and 2-inches.
