Great Falls Parks prepare summer activities

On Sunday, June 7 Colvin Run Mill Historic Site was active with several events at the historic park. Colvin Run Mill was in action with grain grinding demonstrations, and visitors could see millers turn corn into meal and grits, or wheat into flour using the now restored, water-powered grist mill.

Meeting on North Hill Set for May 28

In 1981, the Fairfax County Redevelopment Housing Authority purchased a parcel of land off Richmond Highway, north of Dart Drive in the Mount Vernon District. A Federal Community Development Block Grant funded the purchase. Though a portion of the land was developed, 33 acres, called the North Hill property, have sat unimproved through the years.

The mayor welcomed Rick Grimes and others from the AMC show “The Walking Dead” to the city. Grimes entered the city on March 1 and has expressed an interest in joining local law enforcement. In the show, based on a comic series by Robert Kirkman, Alexandria is a safe-zone relatively protected from apocalyptic horrors.

Synetic Theater in Crystal City is staging the Shakespeare comedy, "Much Ado About Nothing," set in the 1950s Las Vegas, from Feb. 11 through March 22.
