Cook for Vets, a nonprofit dedicated to providing food security for veterans and their households through the distribution of healthy meals and groceries, will hold a fall fundraiser Sept. 21 on the grounds of Virginia Theological Seminary.

“This is our mission, our passion and our purpose.”

— Cook for Vets founder LJ Raspler

The organization was founded by Alexandria resident LJ Raspler in 2022. As the daughter of a U.S. Navy veteran, Rasper became passionate about helping veterans struggling with food scarcity.

“Too many of our service members who have sacrificed their lives for our country are without proper nutrition on a daily basis,” Raspler said. “Recognition of their plight warrants our attention and our best way of saying thank you for their service is to get busy feeding them.”

The Souls Feeding Souls 2024 Fall Fundraiser will feature live music, food and drinks, a raffle drawing, giveaways, a bake sale, and local business and Veteran Service Organization marketing tables.

“We’re a small but mighty nonprofit looking to make a difference in the lives of veterans who struggle with food scarcity,” Raspler added. “This is our mission, our passion and our purpose and we hope you will join and support us.”
