Car Seat Inspections on Oct. 10

Parents may get their children’s car seats inspected on Thursday, Oct. 10, from 5-8:30 p.m., outside the Sully District Police Station. It’s at 4900 Stonecroft Blvd. in Chantilly. Inspections are done on a first-come, first-served basis. Participants should install the child safety seat themselves, so the inspection can be performed. The seat will be properly re-installed if necessary, and parents will be taught how to install the seat properly. Everyone is eligible. Another car-seat inspection is scheduled for Oct. 24, at the same place and time.

Sully Police Glove Collection for Local Children

Officers at the Sully District Police Station are collecting warm gloves for children in need at local elementary students in the district. It’s their third annual Warm Hearts, Warm Hands Lil’ Hands Glove Drive, and they’re seeking the community’s help. Needed are brand-new gloves for children ages 5-12.

The collection runs until Friday, Oct. 18, and donations may either be mailed to Sully District Police Station, c/o MPO Meg Hawkins, 4900 Stonecroft Blvd., Chantilly, VA 20151, or brought in person to the station. “Look for the big, black collection bin in the lobby,” said Hawkins. “It’s clearly labeled and always open, just like your heart when you're helping out.”
