As a native Alexandrian, I find the idea of changing the names of streets bordering on absurd and at best a perfect example of misplaced priorities of financial resources. I can think of numerous other alternatives to spend taxpayer dollars.
I suggest money required for changing signs may be better spent on: affordable housing, feeding the hungry, improving security at ACHS. and increasing the salaries of teachers, first responders and police.
I wonder how much input citizens and members of the business community have had in this idea. I hope city leadership will reconsider this folly and put the financial resources where they are desperately needed.
