Fireworks were one of the “illuminations,” for Mount Vernon’s Christmas Illumination.
Over 5000 people attended the “Christmas Illuminations,” event at the Mount Vernon Estate Dec. 15 and 16. Food and drink were served at the plantation while attendees shopped at the holiday market, experienced the winter encampment, enjoyed the candlelight tours and the fireworks out over the Potomac River that concluded both nights. General and Mrs. Washington were seen among the crowd in period costumes.
