INCIDENTS
Sex Offense -- Highland Street, NW
Between May 20 at 6 a.m. and May 25 at 8:49 a.m.
A resident reported that his juvenile daughter had been communicating with someone for a few days over social media. The communication became more explicit and the man began sending pornographic images. This case is being investigated.
Violation of a Protective Order -- 100 Block Center Street, South
May 20, 11:35 a.m.
On May 27, a resident reported that her daughter has been sending her text messages in violation of her protective order. This case is under investigation.
Lost Property -- Vienna Community Center, 120 Cherry Street, SE
May 21, 6:50 a.m.
A citizen reported that they lost a set of keys near the bike trail at the Community Center.
Arrest – Drunk In Public -- Wawa
465 Maple Avenue, West
May 22, 11:47 p.m.
Officers responded to the report of a suspicious man in the parking lot. Upon their interaction with the man, they detected signs of impairment. MPO Smith arrested the 26-year-old man from Whippoorwill Terrace in Chantilly. After being trespassed from Wawa, he was transported to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center and charged with Drunk In Public.
Found Property -- 400 Block Church Street, NE
May 23, 8:20 a.m.
A resident dropped off ammo for destruction.
Police Service -- Vienna Town Green
144 Maple Avenue, East
May 23,, 10:20 a.m.
Officers assisted in searching for a mentally challenged man who was walking with a group when he became separated from them. The man was located a short time later and reunited with his group.
Assault -- 200 Block Cedar Lane, SE
May 23, 12:30 p.m.
A resident was in the community laundry room of his apartment building when another resident came in and began arguing with him. The other man then spat in the resident’s face. An officer was able to speak to both men and allow them to calm down. The resident was advised of the warrant process should he wish to pursue charges.
Animal Case – Quarantine -- 1100 Block Redwood Drive, SE
May 23, 2:30 p.m.
A citizen was walking his dog when another dog ran out of his yard and attacked his dog. While attempting to separate the animals, the citizen was bitten on the hand. The owner of the attacking dog was advised of the quarantine procedure.
Destruction of Property -- Vienna Elementary School
128 Center Street, South
May 23, 5:08 p.m.
A dispute between juveniles escalated when one of the juveniles pushed the other’s bike over, damaging it.
Vehicle Tampering -- 300 Block Charles Street, SE
Between May 24 at 12 p.m. and May 28 at 11 p.m.
A resident reported that someone entered their vehicles and rummaged through them.
Animal Case -- Hope Advanced Veterinary Center
140 Park Street, SE
May 25, 1:30 p.m.
The Health Department reported that a citizen found a cat in grave condition and brought it to the Veterinary Center. The staff determined the cat needed to be euthanized. Due to the cat’s symptoms, ACO Barker transported the animal to the Fairfax County Animal Shelter for rabies testing.
Petit Larceny -- 100 Block James Drive, SE
Between May 25 at 3 p.m. and May 26 at 5:50 a.m.
A resident reported that someone entered his unlocked vehicle and stole loose change.
Natural Death -- 1100 Block Pekay Street, SW
May 26, 12:52 a.m.
Officers responded to assist rescue personnel with a resident who suffered from medical issues and was found deceased in her home.
Suspicious Event -- Burke & Herbert Bank
302 Maple Avenue, West
May 26 between 8:20 a.m. and 5 p.m.
A citizen parked her vehicle in the parking lot of the bank. When she returned to the vehicle, the rear passenger window was shattered. The cause of the damage could not be determined but may have been the result of a lawn crew mowing in the area.
Animal Case -- 200 Block Commons Drive, NW
May 26, 10 a.m.
ACO Barker responded to assist a resident with a bat in his home. The bat was captured in the area of the master bedroom. ACO Barker transported the bat to the Fairfax County Animal Shelter for rabies testing. On May 27, the Health Department reported that the rabies test on the bat came back with negative results.
Police Service -- Ayr Hill Avenue, NE
May 26, 1:11 p.m.
A resident reported that his juvenile daughter became upset after an argument with a friend and left home. A short time later, the mother located her daughter at a nearby park.
CRASHES
200 Block Maple Avenue, East -- May 18, 3:20 p.m.
Vehicle-2 was traveling eastbound on Maple Avenue, slowing for the red traffic light at Glyndon Street. Vehicle-1 was exiting a parking lot to turn left onto eastbound Maple Avenue and struck Vehicle-2.
300 Block Maple Avenue, East -- May 27 8:36 a.m.
Vehicle-2 was traveling in the left eastbound lane on Maple Avenue. Vehicle-1 was attempting to turn right out of the parking lot at 395 Maple Avenue when the two vehicles collided. Driver-1 was issued a summons charging Failure to Yield Before Entering a Highway.
