The Shepherd’s Center, serving Oakton-Vienna-Reston-Herndon, and Vienna Parks and Recreation, will present their Valentine Senior Social event on Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2020 from noon – 2 p.m. at the Vienna Community Center, 120 Cherry St SE, Vienna. In case of inclement weather, a snow date has been set for Feb. 20, 2020. Tickets are $18 per person. To register, call new registration hotline at 703-281-0601 by Feb. 3, 2020. Registration is required. No refunds. No walk-ins.

Held throughout the year, The Shepherd’s Center Senior Socials afford guests the opportunity to socialize and stay connected in the community. These Senior Social events help to address the Vision Statement of The Shepherd’s Center: A World Without Loneliness.

Entertainment will be provided by Jody Marshall on hammered dulcimer and Jim Queen on fiddle. A native of the Washington, D.C. area, Jody has been performing and teaching dulcimer since 1988 and was a founding member of the folk popular trios, Ironweed and MoonFire. Her performance credits include the Corcoran Gallery of Art, the Folger Shakespeare Library, the Smithsonian Institution, the Kennedy Center, and the White House.

Jim Queen is a 30-year veteran performer with the Air Force Band. Master of many instruments, his first love is the fiddle. Jim has performed all over the world and in just about every state, and for luminaries in every field. He plays just about every fiddle and violin style in the book, from Mozart to mariachi, and is currently the fiddler in the popular Celtic band, Iona.
