Vienna Police Highlights April 10 – April 16, 2020

The following summary contains various incidents of general interest as well as vehicular crashes handled by the Town of Vienna Police Department from April 10 – April 16, 2020.

INCIDENTS

Unlawful Entry -- 300 Block Park Street, NE April 10, 7:34 p.m. A woman requested an officer’s presence as she picked up her child from the child’s father. When officers arrived at the home, they observed an argument between the parties. It was determined that the woman entered the home, took the child, and walked out of the house. The woman had no way of safely transporting the child. The child was left in the custody of the father, and the two parties were advised of the civil process regarding custody of the child. The father was advised of the warrant process should he wish to pursue charges for Unlawful Entry, and, at his request, the woman trespassed from the home.

Telephone Case -- 400 Block Kingsley Road, SW April 10, 7:40 p.m. A resident received a harassing telephone call that he believes was related to vandalism at his home on April 9. The resident believes he knows who is responsible for the incidents, and he was advised of the warrant process should he wish to pursue charges.

Police Service -- 200 Block Park Terrace Court, SE April 11, 11:50 p.m. A resident reported on-going issues with a relative who lives with her. The resident was advised of the eviction process should she wish to remove the relative from her home. Two of the relative’s friends, who were at the home, were trespassed from the residence.

Destruction of Property -- 7-11 427 Maple Avenue, East April 12, 6:10 p.m. The owner of the store reported damage to one of the front glass doors.

Domestic Dispute -- Mill Street, SE April 12, 6:29 p.m. Officers responded to a custody dispute. The two parties eventually reached an agreement.

Missing Juvenile -- 100 Block Patrick Street, SE April 13, 9:50 p.m. A resident reported that her daughter left home stating she wanted to go to her aunt's house. After searching the area for the child she was later found safe with her aunt in Arlington.

Police Service -- Park Street, SE April 14, 2:22 p.m. An employee at a doctor’s office requested extra patrol in the area due to an on-gong domestic issue with her estranged husband.

Juvenile Case -- 400 Block John Marshall Drive, NE April 14 6:09 p.m. An officer responded to the report of two people trespassing at a construction site. The officer located a juvenile and his girlfriend, who were in their vehicle, consuming alcohol. The juvenile was also found in possession of marijuana and tobacco products. The parents of both parties responded to take custody of their children. Petitions are pending in this case.

Unlawful Entry – Arrest -- 100 Block Patrick Street, SW April 15, 1:11 a.m. A resident reported that an unknown man had entered his home and was sleeping on the stairs in the foyer. Upon the officer’s interaction with the man, she detected signs of impairment. MPO Borja arrested the 43-year-old man from Patrick Street, SE in Vienna. He was transported to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center, where he was charged with Unlawful Entry.

Assist EMS -- 600 Block Orrin Street, SE April 15, 4:51 p.m. Officers responded to assist rescue personnel with a woman who was unconscious in a vehicle. A resident reported that they were trying to take the woman, who was a relative, to the hospital after she drank too much alcohol. Rescue personnel transported the woman to an area hospital for treatment

Petit Larceny -- 600 Block Spring Street, SE April 15 between 2 a.m. and 7 a.m. A resident reported someone took their hockey net that they had left near the curb in front of their home.

Police Service -- 200 Block Courthouse Circle, SW April 15, 8:33 p.m. A resident requested assistance with her adult daughter, who was destroying property in the home. The daughter calmed down after speaking to the officers and agreed to separate from her mother for the night to prevent further issues.

Animal Case – Quarantine -- 700 Block Glyndon Street, SE April 16, 1:30 p.m. A resident reported that he was riding his bike when he was bitten by his neighbor’s dog. The neighbor was advised of the 10-day quarantine procedure.

Suspicious Person -- 200 Block Cedar Lane, SE April 16, 2:40 p.m. Officers responded to the report of a suspicious man in the parking lot of the shopping center. A citizen reported the man was yelling at people. Officers spoke to the man regarding his actions. The man apologized for the disturbance.

CRASHES

Cottage Street and Walker Street, SW -- March 20, 12:30 p.m. Vehicle-2 was southbound on Cottage Street at Walker Street when Vehicle-1 (an unknown vehicle) backed out of a driveway and struck the vehicle, causing minor damage. Driver-1 fled the scene without providing their information.

180 Maple Avenue, West -- April 8, 10 a.m. Vehicle-1 was backing out of a parking space when it struck Vehicle-2 that was legally parked in the next parking space.

331 Maple Avenue, East -- April 10, 4:00 p.m. Vehicle-2 was legally parked in the parking lot when it was struck by Vehicle-1, an unknown vehicle. Driver-1 left the scene without providing their information.
