The new building to house the federal Transportation Security Administration (TSA) is near completion in a location just south of the Springfield Town Center and within walking distance to the Metro station. To accommodate access to the building, Metro officials are planning to open a connector road from the station to the building, said Caleb Lester at the Lee District Supervisor’s office. Officials estimate the new location is expected to bring an estimated 3,000 jobs to Fairfax County. According to the Federal Business Opportunities website, the 625,000 square-foot headquarters will be leased by the General Services Administration for 15 years (with a five-year renewal option) with an estimated full occupancy date in 2020.
