The National Park Service wants to learn what people think about proposed transportation upgrades to Fletcher’s Cove, also known as the Fletcher’s Boathouse area, in Washington, D.C., just off Canal Road. The NPS welcomes your feedback and suggestions about our proposal to construct a new entrance and upgrade park roads and parking lots. These improvements will provide a more direct and safe transportation connection between Fletcher’s Cove and Canal Road, the C&O Canal towpath, and the Capital Crescent Trail.
The proposed project area is located on federal land between Canal Road and the Potomac River in the Palisades neighborhood. This area is administered by the Chesapeake & Ohio (C&O) Canal National Historical Park. The C&O Canal National Historical Park is listed in the National Register of Historic Places and the D.C. Inventory of Historic Sites.
