Audubon Photography Awards Show Comes to Reston
The Walker Nature Center has been selected as a destination for the Audubon Photography Awards Show. With the help of the Audubon Society of Northern Virginia, this is the second time in three years that Reston Association’s WNC has been chosen as one of the nationwide locations for the show. Friends of Reston is an additional sponsor, providing funds for the special events surrounding the exhibition, which will be held Feb. 8-27. There will be an exhibition open house at the nature center on Sunday, Feb. 10 from 1-3 p.m.
The winning photographers and their photographs were selected from more than 8,000 entries submitted by photographers from all 50 states, Washington, D.C., and 10 Canadian provinces. This year’s photographs celebrate the splendor of many bird species protected under the Migratory Bird Treaty Act, the most important bird conservation law, which is currently under siege in Congress and by the Department of the Interior, according to the National Audubon Society.
