McLean Project for the Arts will open Invention/Intention: Works by Delna Dastur and Maryanne Pollock with an opening exhibition reception on Saturday, Jan. 12, 2019 from 5-7 p.m. at MPA@ChainBridge, 1446 Chain Bridge Road, McLean.
Invention/Intention features paintings by Delna Dastur and Maryanne Pollock. These two abstract painters both make works created through a delicate and magical blend of intentional, planned process and improvisational experimentation.
“It will be fascinating to see the work of these two artists in a visual conversation, as each brings years of work and study and teaching in the field to bear and to blend with their experimental and spirited approach to painting,” said MPA Exhibitions Director Nancy Sausser.
Maryanne Pollock’s exuberant works combine painting and printmaking techniques to create abstractions with calligraphic marking and patterning influenced by time spent living and working in Egypt.
Delna Dastur, also an abstractionist, uses architecturally inspired compositional structure to make intricately layered lyrical paintings that display atmospheric experiments based on both honed skill and intuition.
In addition to the Jan. 12 opening exhibition reception, Dastur and Pollock will hold an Artist Talk on Jan. 27, 2019 at 2 p.m. Registration for both events is available at mpaart.org.
Invention/Intention: Works by Delna Dastur and Maryanne Pollock runs Jan. 10 through March 2, 2019 at MPA@ChainBridge.
