Dogs, and in some cases their owners, dressed up in costumes as part of the 4th Annual Puppy Nativity at The Church of the Good Shepherd (United Methodist) on Hunter Mill Road in Vienna on Saturday, Dec. 7, 2019. Pastor Eric Song describes the event as “a creative way to celebrate Christmas” and surely “bring smiles to us all as we celebrate the coming of Jesus.”
As part of the event, the church’s youth raised nearly $500 in donations to support Britepaths, a nonprofit providing help and hope to struggling residents in the Fairfax County area. Community members also brought in plastic caps and tops for a special recycling project underway at the church through Jan. 20, 2020.
If you missed the Vienna event, Song encourages community members to attend a similar event on Saturday, Dec. 14 from 10 a.m. to noon at Fairfax Circle Church (FCC) at 3110 Chichester Lane, Fairfax. Good Shepherd is loaning its nativity set and costumes to FCC for the celebration.
