The Mayor and the Town Council of the Town of Herndon presented a Proclamation honoring Dr. Gerald L. Gordon, President & CEO Fairfax County Economic Development Authority, during the Town Public Hearing held Nov. 13, 2018. Reading the proclamation, Mayor Lisa C. Merkel spoke of their respect for Gordon's 35 years of service and support. Merkel told how during Gordon’s years of service, "Office space in the county grew from 32 million square feet to more than 117 million, and jobs in the county grew from 243,000 to more than 600,000."
Merkel added that she and the Town Council expressed their appreciation to Gordon for his service on the town's Economic Development Task Force, the recruitment of Amazon Web Services to town and promoting the town and Fairfax County as business and technology centers.
