Due to foreboding weather Saturday, June 2, the ribbon cutting ceremony celebrating the completion of Chessie’s Trail at the Lee District Recreation Area has been postponed. The new date is June 16 at 2 p.m.

The ribbon cutting ceremony was intended to be held in honor of National Trails Day, as well as the completion of Chessie’s Trail, a park nature trail designed for children.

The trail offers interactive experiences for children and adults, including features such as “stepping blocks, a music garden, rock steps, a nest seating area, spinning rocks, a stone abacus, a log stone secret path, and a boardwalk,” according to the website.

While the ribbon ceremony is postponed, families can still enjoy the completed nature trail during the Lee District Recreation Area’s operating hours.
