Detectives from Major Crimes Bureau are investigating a bank robbery at the Burke & Herbert Bank, located at 5519 Franconia Road. Just after 9 a.m. Monday, Dec. 10, a man entered the bank and brandished a black semi-automatic handgun at the teller as he demanded money. He was given an undisclosed amount of cash before leaving the bank and running down Franconia Road. No one was injured. Officers arrived on scene within minutes of the call and searched the area along with assistance from Alexandria City Police. The suspect is described as a black man, approximately 6 feet tall, 180 pounds, wearing an orange construction helmet, baseball cap with a dark colored bill, dark colored hoodie under a grey/olive green jacket, an off-white colored dust mask, black sunglasses, grey sweatpants, and brown/tan hiking boots with black soles.
