Test Location The following summary contains various incidents of general interest as well as vehicular crashes handled by the Town of Vienna, Virginia Police Department from Aug. 25-Sept. 1, 2017.
INCIDENTS
Fraud — 300 Block Maple Avenue West Between Jan. 21, noon and Aug. 30, noon. A business owner reported that someone cashed two checks that were payable to her business without her consent.
Fraud — 500 Block of John Marshall Drive, NE Between May 1, 12:01 a.m. and Aug. 30, 6:19 p.m. A citizen reported that someone has been using his personal information since May 2017 and has been repeatedly attempting to open credit accounts under his name.
Vehicle Tampering — 500 Block Marshall Road, SW Aug. 8, between 12:01 a.m. and 6:34 p.m. A citizen reported that someone entered his neighbor’s vehicles sometime during the night.
Trespassing — Glyndon Park, 300 Glyndon St. NE, Aug. 16, 9:10 p.m. A subject was trespassed from all town parks.
Grand Larceny — Aditi Spice Depot, 409 Maple Ave. East, Between Aug. 17, 9 p.m. and Aug. 18, 3:30 p.m. A business owner reported that someone stole some parts from his air conditioning unit.
Petit Larceny — CVS, 337 Maple Ave. East, Aug. 25 between 1:19 p.m. and 1:22 p.m. An employee reported that someone attempted to steal some items. The subject left the scene prior to police arrival. Later, in the same night, police were able to locate the subject. The subject was transported back to the CVS. He was trespassed from CVS. The CVS employee did not want to prosecute the subject.
Found Property — Beulah Road NE / Church Street NE, Aug. 25, 6 p.m. A citizen turned in some property he found on the sidewalk.
Animal Case — Hope Advance Veterinary Center, 140 Park St. SE, Aug. 25 between 7:15 p.m. and 7:20 p.m. An employee was bitten by a dog. Arrest — ABC Violation - Valley Drive SE / Branch Road SE, Aug. 17, 11:54 p.m. Officers were dispatched to the area for a loud party call. While searching the area two juveniles were located. Both juveniles had been drinking alcohol. They were given verbal counseling and released to their parents.
Police Service — 200 Cedar Lane SE, Aug. 27, 3:09 p.m. A citizen requested an officer to file a report on a parking lot accident that took place several days before.
Vandalism — 100 Block East Street, NE, Between Aug. 26, 5 p.m. and Aug. 28, 10 a.m. A citizen reported that her windshield was damaged while the vehicle was parked.
Juvenile Case — Cedar Lane School, 101 Cedar Lane, SW, Aug. 29, 9:21 a.m. School staff requested officers to assist with a student that was acting strangely. After speaking with an officer, it was determined the student was in need of medical assistance. The student was transported to a hospital. Fraud — 200 Block Elm Street, SW, Aug. 29, 4 p.m. A resident reported that someone used her debit card in another state without her knowledge or consent.
Grand Larceny — Spokes Etc., 224 Maple Ave. East, Aug. 30, noon. An employee reported that someone stole a bicycle.
Police Service — 300 Block Nutley Street, NW, Aug. 30, 1:46 p.m. A citizen requested an officer to report a suspicious event. The officer interviewed the citizen and concluded no suspicious event actually happened. Suspicious Event — 100 Block East Street, NE, Aug. 30 between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. A citizen reported that a window of her vehicle was shattered while the vehicle was parked at her residence.
Welfare Check — 400 Block Lawyers Road, NW Aug. 31, 2:03 p.m. Child Protective Services requested that police officers respond to a residence to check on the welfare of the residents children. Police officers responded to the house and verified in person that the children were in good health. Suspicious Person — Meadow Lane Park, 400 Meadow Lane Park SW, Aug. 31, 2:03 p.m. A citizen reported a suspicious person at the park. Police responded to the park but were unable to locate the individual. CRASHES
Accident – 136 Maple Ave. SW, Aug. 25, 3:49 p.m. Vehicle-2 was traveling in the right lane of Eastbound Maple Avenue West. Vehicle-1 (bicycle) was in the middle turn lane making a left into the shopping center. An unknown vehicle in the left lane of Maple Avenue stopped to allow Vehicle-1 (bicycle) to make a left turn. Vehicle-1 did not yield the right of way to Vehicle-2 and was struck as it entered the right travel lane. The bicyclist was transported to the hospital with injuries.
Accident – Park Street SE / Moore Avenue SE, Aug. 27, 2:19 p.m. Vehicle 1, was traveling Eastbound on Moore Avenue SE, stopped at the stop sign at the intersection with Park Street SE. Vehicle-2 was traveling Northbound, on Park Street SE, stopped at the stop sign, at the intersection with Moore Avenue SE. Both drivers claimed they entered the intersection first, and then proceeded assuming they had the right of way and collided in a front end corner collision. Vehicle-1 was held at fault for not yielding to the vehicle on the right but no citation was issued due to conflicting stories and inconclusive evidence. Both vehicles sustained significant front end damage but were able to be driven away.
Accident – 307 George St., SW, Aug. 31, 8:51 a.m. Driver of Vehicle-1 was traveling Eastbound on George Street SW. The vehicle was a delivery truck that was delivering belongings to 309 George St., SW. Vehicle-1 caught a low hanging wire which became dislodged from the home located at 307 George St., SW.
