The recent repeal of the Clean Power Plan only further confirmed just how out of touch President Trump is with the rest of America.
According to a recent Yale study, a majority of Americans in all 50 states and 435 congressional districts want to see strict limits imposed for carbon pollution from coal-fired power plants.
Repealing the CPP and the lifesaving and economic incentives that come with it flies in the face of public sentiment and only further proves that Trump and EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt are out to serve fossil fuel interests, not everyday Americans.
We are at least fortunate in Virginia to have our own plan moving forward to cut carbon emissions, one that will help grow our economy and hopefully steer revenue back to the commonwealth from the sale of carbon allowances in a multi-state marketplace.
We simply can’t wait to act on climate change — too much is at stake. Try as they might to undermine these efforts in Washington, American sentiment is clear: we want cleaner air and a greener grid.
