With temperatures soaring in the 90s, the Water Mine Family Swimmin' Hole at Lake Fairfax Park in Reston was the place to be on Saturday, July 1. The pool was packed with families trying to beat the heat. Between 10,000 to 15,000 people were expected for the Fourth of July fireworks celebration later in the evening. Meanwhile, visitors could enjoy themselves boating and fishing on the 18-acre Lake Fairfax, the camping and cookouts, the carousel, skate park, pump track, puppet show, or watching the entertainment at the county Showmobile.

"It's wonderful to have families of all sizes take over. It's just a great family day here at Lake Fairfax," said Barbara Nugent, Park Services Division Director with Fairfax County Park Authority.
