Wealth creation, the font from which all tax revenue flows, was conspicuously missing from the script capably crafted by Kathleen Burns in the Dec. 15 edition of the Gazette-Packet.
Intended to rejuvenate the Democratic Party, Ms. Burns’ story line, when distilled of practical steps to make their candidates more appealing, was typical of all Democratic Party nostrums: sincerely spending other people’s money for good and worthy things.
Her boldest recommendation: demand low-paying Call Centers return to Virginia. Her worst recommendation: demanding our state government command all privately owned businesses pay a wage arbitrarily set by legislators.
State and local government laws, regulations and meddling reduce business profits and, thereby, reduce tax revenue to spend on good and worthy things.
