ACCIDENTAL DISCHARGE: 11200 Waples Mill Road (National Firearm Museum), April 6 around 3:30 p.m. An employee was participating in firearms training at the range. As he holstered his pistol, the firearm was accidentally discharged. The 46-year-old man suffered a minor wound to the lower body and was taken to the hospital for treatment. Officers consulted with the Commonwealth’s Attorney’s office; no charges are expected.
MASTURBATING IN PUBLIC: 12500 block of Fair Lakes Circle, April 5, 7:39 p.m. Officers responded for a report of a man masturbating inside of the store where women were nearby. A 33-year-old man from Herndon, was arrested and charged with masturbating in public.
BURGLARY: 2800 block of Foxcroft Way. March 19, 6:02 p.m. A homeowner reports that someone entered his unlocked garage and removed power tools. There is no suspect description.
BURGLARY: 5600 block of Clifton Road. March 19, 7:21 p.m. A homeowner reports that someone broke into the home and took an undisclosed amount of coins. There is no suspect description.
BURGLARY: 3200 block of History Drive, between about 6:45 p.m. Feb. 17 and 2 p.m. Feb. 19 An investigation determined entry was forced through a door. Electronics and wine were reported missing.
ARMED ROBBERY/ARREST: 12000 Fairfax Towne Center, Feb. 20, around 5:45 a.m. A 49-year-old woman was parking in a garage. As she got out of her car, two men approached her. One displayed a handgun and demanded cash. The victim did not comply and the suspects ran off. Officers quickly caught a 16-year-old boy in a nearby park and identified him as the robbery suspect. He was taken to the Juvenile Detention Center and charged with robbery, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony and wearing a mask in public. The other suspect, an 18-year-old of no fixed address was located nearby and arrested for a probation violation and possession of marijuana. He was taken to the Adult Detention Center.
MISSILE INTO AN OCCUPIED DWELLING: 4400 block of Holly Avenue, Feb. 9, around 10:35 p.m. Residents were asleep inside a home when they were awakened by what sounded like gunshots. One of them looked outside and saw a man with a gun run toward the rear of the townhomes. Responding officers searched the area, but the suspect was not located. An investigation determined three rounds had struck the home. The suspect was described as having average build and wore dark-colored clothing. The victim did not require medical attention. Detectives from the Crime Scene Section responded to process the scene. AGGRAVATED ASSAULT ON LAW ENFORCEMENT/ARREST: 11700 block of Fair Oaks Shopping Center, Jan. 25, around 8:20 p.m. Bike Team officers were patrolling the mall area when they smelled a strong odor of marijuana emanating from a car. When the officer approached the driver, he drove off in a reckless manner, nearly causing an accident. Other units attempted to stop the car, but the suspect accelerated rapidly towards the officers’ position. The officers jumped out of the way of the moving car and the suspect sped off. Officers worked diligently to identify the suspect and arrested him the next day. A 32-year-old man from Lorton, was taken to the Adult Detention Center and charged with two counts of aggravated assault on law enforcement and felony speeding to elude.
ATTEMPTED ROBBERY/ARREST: 13600 block of Frying Pan Road, Jan. 26, around 8:15 p.m. Police responded to the report of an attempted armed robbery. A 26-year-old woman was helping at a shelter when a man approached her, displayed a knife and demanded her jewelry. She refused and the suspect ran out of the building. The suspect was known to some of the other shelter workers and officers responded to the magistrate and obtained a warrant. Later in the evening, A 43-year-old man of no fixed address was located, taken to the Adult Detention Center and charged with attempted robbery.
BURGLARY: 4100 block of Halsted Street, Jan. 25, around 6 p.m. A resident reported someone entered the residence and took property.
ROBBERY: 8700 block of Sacramento Drive. Jan. 24, 10:29 p.m. Two men entered the Mini Mart, displayed handguns and demanded money from an employee. They left with an undisclosed amount of cash; the employee was not injured. The suspects were described as black, wearing all black clothing, with black masks covering their faces. They were seen getting into a dark colored, older model sedan.
