The Alexandria Sheriff’s Office has teamed up with the Alexandria City Public Schools and Alexandria Fire Department for “Read Across Alexandria,” a new initiative to bring guest readers into classrooms to read to elementary school students. The program launched on Tuesday, Nov. 15, with Deputy LaJuenne Sherzai-Harding (above) visiting Jefferson-Houston School and members of the Fire Department participating at Cora Kelly Elementary. Sherzai-Harding read “Say Something,” a book about bullying, to Jefferson-Houston students.
