With a voice reminiscent of John Denver and songs lauded by Billboard Magazine as "intensely sensitive and impressively intelligent at the same time," Steven Gellman has performed to audiences across the United States since the mid-90s. Now, for the release of his eighth album, Gellman returns to Jammin Java for a concert full of holiday cheer. “Hearth & Home” is a collection of original songs and holiday favorites that span the season - from Thanksgiving Day to New Year's Eve. Celebrate the holidays with an acoustic concert for the entire family!
“Hearth & Home,” Gellman’s second holiday release, was recorded in one take in front of a live audience at the historic Hill Chapel in New Market, Md. The fully acoustic concert features Gellman on lead vocals and guitar, Margaret Wolfe on vocals, percussions, and harmonica, and Doug Poplin on cello and vocals. “Hearth & Home” is a holiday album in the folk tradition of the Peter, Paul & Mary’s A Holiday Celebration featuring songs of Christmas and Hanukkah as well as Gellman’s original songs adapted for the holiday season.
Gellman emerged on the folk music scene in 1997 garnering critical acclaim for Photobook with a sound that Billboard Magazine compared to the Indigo Girls. Since then, he has continued his hallmark approach of capturing story in song through a growing catalog of indie releases. Gellman is frequent nominee for Best Contemporary Folk Vocalist in the Washington Area Music Awards.
