Mount Vernon: Crime Report

The following incidents were reported by the Mount Vernon District Police Station:

BURGLARY: 6500 block of Tower Drive, Nov. 5, 5:11 p.m. A resident reported someone entered the residence and took property.

ROBBERY: 8300 block of Claremont Woods Drive, Nov. 1 around 2:55 p.m.Investigation determined two men robbed a 60-year-old man who was delivering food. The suspects were described as black, between 18 and 22 years old. One was between 5 feet 6 and 5 feet 9 inches tall and 165 pounds, wearing a blue coat and light-colored pants. The other was about 5 feet 6 inches tall and 145 pounds, wearing a dark-colored jacket and skinny jeans. The victim was taken to the hospital and treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

ROBBERY: 2300 block of Huntington Avenue (7-Eleven), Nov. 1 around 12:30 a.m.Three men walked into the business; one of the produced a gun and demanded money from the clerks, a 54-year-old woman and 33-year-old man. The suspects stole an undisclosed amount of money and fled. The victims did not require medical attention.

ROBBERY: 2300 block of Huntington Avenue, Oct. 31 around 8:13 p.m. Investigation determined a 56-year-old man was walking when another man approached him and asked for money. The victim refused and the suspect assaulted him. Another man was nearby and started to call police, but the suspect struck him, took the phone and fled. The suspect was described as black, about 6 feet and wore a red jacket and blue jeans. The first victim declined medical attention. The other victim left the scene prior to police arrival and could not be located.

ROBBERY/MALICIOUS WOUNDING: 8400 block of Madge Lane, Oct. 31 around 9:45 p.m. An investigation determined a 37-year-old man was walking home when two men and three women approached him. One man was holding some type of stick and struck the victim. Then, the rest of the group started to assault him. The victim tried to use his phone to call for help but the suspects took it and continued to assault him. They fled and a group of passersby helped the victim home. He was later transported to the hospital with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries. The suspects were described as black. The male suspect that first struck him was about 19 years old and wearing a red and white sweater.

ROBBERY: 7700 block of Richmond Highway (Rent-A-Center), Oct. 31 between 9:45 and 10 p.m. An employee, a 38-year-old man, was getting into his car when another man approached from behind and demanded money. The employee refused and the suspect grabbed for the money bag. They struggled briefly and the suspect produced a gun. The victim surrendered the bag and the suspect fled. The suspect was described as Hispanic, between 20 and 25 years old, about 5 feet 9 inches tall and 160 pounds. He was wearing all black and his face was covered. The victim did not require medical attention.
