INCIDENTS
Burglary - 300 Block Sherwood Drive, NE. Between Oct. 1, 2015 at 8 a.m. and May 7, 2016 at 4:20 p.m. A resident reported someone forced entry into his vacant property and stole a bicycle and a heating and cooling unit.
Missing Person - 300 Block East Street, NE. Between May 4 at noon and May 5 at 4:22 p.m. A resident advised he was concerned for the welfare of his adult daughter. He reported that she was supposed to have returned home from vacationing in Alabama on May 4 however he had not heard from her. A short time after this report was filed the daughter made contact with the resident advising that she had extended her trip and would be home the following day.
Shoplifting - CVS, 337 Maple Ave., East. May 4, 7:10 p.m. An employee reported three black females entered the store and stole a large quantity of baby formula.
Missing Person - 300 Block Old Courthouse Road, NE. May 5 between 5 a.m. and noon. A resident reported her elderly husband had wandered away from home and she was concerned for his safety. The man was located later in the day by Arlington County Police.
Juvenile Case - Cedar Lane School, 101 Cedar Lane, SW. May 5, 8:30 a.m. A member of the school staff advised that a student was in possession of a prescription medication. The student advised that he had inadvertently placed his medication in his coat pocket and brought it to school. The school staff will follow up on this matter.
Suspicious Event - 600 Block Manor Drive, NE. May 5, 2:01 p.m. A resident received a suspicious telephone call from a person claiming to be her grandson. The person stated he needed money because he had been injured in an accident and arrested in North Carolina. The resident did not go along with the attempted scam. She did not send any money or suffer any financial loss.
Welfare Check - 400 Block Courthouse Road, SW. May 6, 10 a.m. Officers conducted a welfare check on a resident after he made a post on social media that concerned his friend. Officers spoke to the resident and his relatives and determined he was not in need of any immediate assistance.
Arrest – Drunk in Public - Aldeerah Restaurant, 262 Cedar Lane, SE.May 6, 11:36 p.m. Officers responded to the report of several men outside of the restaurant, one of them armed with a knife. An employee of the restaurant advised MPO Lyons that the man was highly intoxicated and was harassing females at the restaurant. He asked the man several times to leave the area. The man walked away, but came back holding a knife. An officer located the man the 38-year-old man, who had no fixed address, and arrested him for Drunk In Public. He was transported to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center where he was to be held until he was sober. The employee did not wish to pursue assault charges.
Found Property - 100 Block Mendon Lane, SW. May 7, 8:10 a.m. A resident turned in a wallet he found in his yard. The wallet will be held at the Vienna Police Station until the owner can retrieve it.
Suspicious Event - Nutley Street, SW. May 7, 10:15 a.m. A resident voiced concerns regarding a domestic situation.
Arrest – Narcotic Violation - Old Courthouse Road and Fairway Drive, NE. May 7, 12:40 p.m. An officer observed a traffic violation and initiated a traffic stop. Upon his interaction with the driver he detected the odor of marijuana. The driver was found to be in possession of a measurable amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. The driver, a 22-year-old male from Seneca Ridge Drive in Sterling, Va., was issued a summons for Possession of Marijuana. He was released after signing the summons.
Vandalism - W&OD Bike Trail at Follin Lane, SE. May 7, 12:47 p.m. A citizen reported vandalism to the concrete portion of an old railroad bridge. Spray paint was found on the bridge and on a trail marker sign.
Arrest - Prescription Fraud - Vienna Drug Center, 150 Maple Ave., West. May 7, 6:53 p.m. An employee reported a female in the pharmacy attempting to fill a fake prescription. An officer arrested the 32-year-old woman from Sunset Lane in Prince Frederick, Md. for Prescription Fraud. She was transported to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center where she was held on a $1,500 secured bond.
Stolen Vehicle - 100 Block Yeonas Drive, SE. Between May 7 at 8 p.m. and May 8 at 6:27 a.m. A resident reported her vehicle was stolen from her carport.
Petit Larceny - 300 Block Orchard Street, NW. May 8, 11:32 p.m. A resident observed a black male taking the two license plates from his vehicle. The male fled the location in a red Nissan coupe. Officers searched the area but were unable to locate the man.
Found Property - Waters Field, 130 Cherry St., SE. May 8, 8:20 a.m. A citizen found a cell phone and bicycle helmet at the field. The property will be held at the Vienna Police Station to see if an owner can be identified.
Shoplifting and Trespassing - Walgreens, 225 Maple Ave., East. May 8, 10:20 a.m. An employee reported a man stealing alcohol from the store. The employee recovered most of the alcohol and did not want to pursue charges against the man. However, he did want him trespassed from the store. An officer located the man and informed him that if he returned to the Walgreens he would be arrested for trespassing. The man left the area without further incident.
Police Service - 300 Block Tapawingo Road, SW. May 9, 2:11 a.m. Our officers assisted Fairfax County Police with an investigation.
Police Service - 300 Block Tapawingo Road, SE. May 9 10:31 a.m. A resident reported a dispute with his neighbor over the trees in his yard. The neighbor believes the trees are encroaching on her property and trimmed the trees without his permission.
Found Property - 100 Block Ross Drive, SW. May 8, 7:00 p.m. A resident found a purse in her trashcan. The purse is being held at the Vienna Police Station to see if an owner can be identified.
Police Service - Center Street at Cherry Street, SE. May 10, 1:07 a.m. An officer observed a driver commit a series of traffic offenses and initiated a traffic stop. It was immediately determined that the driver was listed as a missing person from Fairfax County. Personnel from Fairfax County Fire and Rescue responded to assess the driver after he requested medical assistance. Fairfax County Police also responded. Once the driver was medically cleared by rescue personnel he was released to the care of the Fairfax County Police.
Vehicle Tampering - 200 Block Ross Drive, SW. Between May 10 at 2 p.m. and May 11 at 5:47 a.m. A resident reported that someone entered two vehicles and rummaged through them. Nothing appeared to have been taken from the vehicles. One of the vehicles was parked on the roadway, the other in the driveway.
Suspicious Event - Maple Avenue Market, 128 Maple Ave., East. Between May 10 at 10 p.m. and May 11 at 10:20 p.m. An employee reported damage to the back door of the market. It could not be determined if the damage was intentional or what may have caused it.
Petit Larceny - 7-11, 537 Maple Ave., West. May 10, 10:59 p.m. A citizen observed a vehicle occupied with five passengers enter the parking lot. One of the passengers got out of the vehicle and stole a case of water from outside the 7-11. The vehicle then left the area. The officer spoke to the cashier who did not want to pursue charges at this time.
Juvenile Case - Valley Drive, SE. May 11, 1:07 a.m. A resident reported his daughter had not returned home and was not answering any of their calls or texts. While the officer was taking their report the daughter called her parents, advising of her location and explaining why she left the house. The officer escorted the parents to their daughter to ensure no further assistance was needed.
Arrest – Assault - Maple Avenue at East Street, SE. May 12, 1 a.m. An employee working on the road construction advised he was assaulted by his boss. An officer escorted the employee to the Fairfax County Magistrate’s Office where he obtained a warrant for his boss charging Assault and Battery. The officer went back to the construction site where she served the warrant on the 31-year-old man from Wellington Road in Manassas, Va.
CRASHES
1100 Block Cottage Street, SW - May 5, 2 a.m. A resident discovered that someone struck her vehicle while it was parked on the street in front of her home. Debris from the striking vehicle was found in the roadway.
East Street at Maple Avenue, NE. - May 5, 4:46 p.m. Three vehicles were traveling northbound on East Street in the same lane of traffic. After crossing the intersection of Maple Avenue the driver of Vehicle-3 stopped for a vehicle that was stopped in front of her. The driver of Vehicle-1 was unable to stop and rear-ended Vehicle-2 pushing her into Vehicle-3. The driver of Vehicle-1 was issued a summons for Following Too Close.
Maple Avenue near Pleasant Street, NW - May 6, 11:58 a.m. Two vehicles were traveling westbound bound on Maple Avenue in the left lane approaching Pleasant Street. The driver of Vehicle-2 slowed down. The driver of Vehicle-1 did not notice Vehicle-2 slow down and struck the rear of the vehicle. The driver of Vehicle-1 was issued a summons for Failure to Pay Full Time and Attention.
300 Block Maple Avenue, East - May 6, 1:30 p.m. The driver of Vehicle-1 was leaving a parking lot from the north side of Maple Avenue to turn left and go eastbound on Maple. The driver of Vehicle-2 was leaving a parking lot from the south side of Maple Avenue to turn left and go westbound on Maple. The two vehicles collided in the middle of the intersection. The driver of Vehicle-2 complained of some pain, but refused rescue.
100 Block Maple Avenue, West - May 6, 4 p.m. Two vehicles were traveling westbound on Maple Avenue in the right lane. Vehicle-2 stopped for traffic. Vehicle-1 could not stop in time and struck the rear of Vehicle-2. The driver of Vehicle-2 complained of pain but refused rescue.
Mill Street at the W&OD Bike Trail, NE - May 7, 1:16 p.m. A driver was attempting to make a U-turn at the intersection of Mill Street and the bike trail. The nose of the vehicle dropped off the pavement and the car bottomed out and became stuck, causing minor damage.
Maple Avenue near Follin Lane, SE - May 7, 4:54 p.m. A driver was eastbound of Maple Avenue approximately 500 feet beyond the intersection of Follin Lane. The driver swerved to right to avoid striking a small animal, went off the roadway and struck a utility pole. The driver was evaluated by rescue personnel but refused transport.
Maple Avenue at Beulah Road, NE - May 9, 8 a.m. Two vehicles were traveling westbound on Maple Avenue in adjacent lanes. Vehicle-1 was tractor trailer. The driver of Vehicle-1 was straddling the lanes to turn right onto Beulah Road. Vehicle-2 was stopped in the center turn lane awaiting her turn to make a left into a shopping center. As Vehicle-1 made its turn the left rear corner of the trailer struck the right rear quarter panel of Vehicle-2.
Maple Avenue and Nutley Street, NW - May 9, 1:20 p.m. Two vehicles were in adjacent lanes on Nutley Street, SW, both turning left onto Maple Avenue to go westbound. During the turn the two vehicles collided causing damage to the right side of Vehicle-1 and the left side of Vehicle-2.
820 Follin Lane, SE - May 9, 4:04 p.m. The owner of a legally parked vehicle returned to find it had been struck by an unknown vehicle in the parking lot of the Navy Federal Credit Union.
200 Block Charles Street, SE - May 10, 11:46 p.m. Vehicle-2 was left legally parked in front of a residence. The driver of Vehicle-1 struck the rear of Vehicle-2, causing minor damage and pushing it into the middle of the road. The driver of Vehicle-1 did not stop and left the scene of the accident.
300 Block Maple Avenue, West - May 10, 6:43 p.m. Two vehicles were traveling westbound in the same lane of traffic. Vehicle-2 came to a stop in traffic. Vehicle-1 ran into the rear of Vehicle-2. The driver of Vehicle-1 was issued a summons for Failure to Pay Full Time and Attention.
