Robinson Considers Interior Security Cameras

Robinson Secondary School was scheduled to host a parent information night March 30 to discuss the possible installation of surveillance cameras inside the building.

The cameras would not be monitored at all times, but provide reviewable video evidence for investigations of incidents that occur in the school. “The primary reason for installation of interior security cameras is for greater security for staff and students,” a release from the school said.

As proposed, installation would take place over two years, with the first cameras activated by start of school in September 2016.

The Fairfax County School Board approved optional use of cameras for surveillance inside school buildings in 2011.

Additional information is available at http://www.fcps.edu/RobinsonSS/documents/security-camera-faqs.pdf

Anyone unable to attend the March 30 meeting can submit input using an online form located at http://goo.gl/forms/gDJxOmwvT2.
